- Scope of Symposium
All aspects of porphyrins, phthalocyanines and related macrocycles will be discussed in the form of Plenary Lectures, Keynote Talks, oral presentations and posters over the full five-day period of the meeting. Topics to be covered in microsymposia will include the physics, chemistry, biology, material science, engineering, nanotechnology, medical and biomedical or industrial applications of porphyrins, phthalocyanines and related macrocycles. Four scientists will be honored by Lifetime Achievement Awards in 2008 and up to four JPP/SPP Young Investigator Awards will also be presented at the meeting. All awards will be accompanied by highlighted award lectures. A list of microsymposia and session organizers as well as other details about the meeting will be posted on the ICPP-5 website.

SPP/JPP Young Investigator Awards 2008
Call for Nominations

The SPP/JPP Young Investigator Awards were established at ICPP-1 in Dijon to recognize outstanding young scientists in the field of porphyrins, phthalocyanines or related macrocycles. It is anticipated that up to four Young Investigator Awards will be presented at ICPP-5, which will be held in Moscow, Russia, July 7-11, 2008. The winners will present an award lecture and will receive free meeting registration, a plaque of recognition and $1000 to help cover expenses for participation in the Conference.

All individuals under the age of 40 at the time of the meeting are eligible for the award, which will be evaluated on the basis of the following items:
a) Nomination letter (maximum 3 pages)
b) Summary of applicant’s current research activities (maximum 2 pages)
c) Curriculum vitae, which includes the name of the applicant’s Ph.D. and
postdoctoral advisor(s), all appointments held and all publications.
d) Two letters of recommendation from people familiar with the work of the candidate.
Each applicant should arrange to have the nomination packet and letters of recommendation sent directly to the SPP Office in Dijon. These should be mailed as hard copy and also sent by e-mail as PDF files.

The deadline for receipt of applications is October 15, 2007 with decision being made by November 15, 2007.
